Silsila

Trio for violin, cello and piano, premiered at the Surgissement(S) festival, CRR de Lyon. Performed by : Rita Asdikian (violin) Miren Beorlegui Rodriguez (cello) Simon Hoarau-augé (piano) Silsila (“chain” or “succession” in Arabic) is a three-movement work inspired by Lebanese traditional songs, tracing the journey from childhood to adulthood. Familiar melodies, from the lullaby Yalla Tnam to sacred chants, are gradually transformed, fragmented, and reimagined, reflecting the way memory reshapes the past. At its core, Silsila explores transmission: how songs, beliefs, and experiences are passed from one generation to the next, carrying both personal and collective memory. Through the intertwining of the lullaby, the Maronite chant, and the Muslim Adhan, the work reflects on identity, faith, and the fragile continuity of remembrance.
