Thousands take part in annual preservation ritual at Mali's Great Mosque of Djenne
The annual re-plastering of the Great Mosque of Djenne took place over the weekend. The mosque has been on UNESCO’s World Heritage in Danger list since 2016. The re-plastering is done every year to prevent the site from going into disrepair.
