When Japan attacked Portugal during WW2.

*I do not have accurate data about the Portuguese population in Timor during this period. Portuguese East Timor was officially neutral during World War II, but that did not keep it out of the war. In 1942, the island was occupied by Japan after Allied forces had landed there, turning it into an important battlefield in the Pacific. In this video, I look at the Japanese occupation of Portuguese East Timor from 1942 to 1945. We cover why Japan invaded, the important role played by the Timorese people and the portuguese sttlers, and the heavy cost of the war for civilians. Although it is not as well known as other campaigns, the events in Timor are an important part of World War II history.
