In this video lecture , you will understand cofactors and their types. Cofactors are non-protein molecules or ions that make enzymes functinal. Cofactors are divided into two group 1) Organic cofactors 2) Inorganic cofactors Organic cofactors included coenzymes and prothetic group Organic cofactors include activators. Activators are metallic ions , loosely attached to enzyme. Coenzymes are small organic molecules that are also loosely attached to enzymes Prosthetic group are organic components that are tightly and permanantly attached to enzyme.
