The Holy War The Holy War The Final Assault and Judgment Day by John Bunyan Part XV - The End Now, when the tyrant returned to Hell's Gate Hill with his old friend Unbelief, they hurried down to the lair with their companions. They lamented their misfortune and the great loss they had suffered against the city of Soul-Human. They talked at length, became violently agitated, and swore revenge for the loss. They called a council to plot how they might strike once more against the famous city of Soul-Human. They were hungry to see the outcome of the advice given by Lord Lucifer and Lord Apollyon. Every day their ravenous maws wondered whether it would be long or short before they could satiate themselves with the bodies, souls, flesh, bones, and all the other delicacies of Soul-Human. Consumed by this growing hunger, they decided to make another attempt against the city of Soul-Human. They planned to employ a mixed army composed of Doubters and Bloodthirsty Men. To understand this army, it is necessary to examine both the Doubters and the Bloodthirsty Men more closely. The Doubters are so named because of their nature and the land and kingdom from which they originate. Their nature is to question every one of Emanuel's truths, and their country is called the Land of Doubt. This land lies far to the north, between the Land of Darkness and the Valley of the Shadow of Death, which are sometimes spoken of as one and the same, but are two places that are only a short distance apart. The Land of Doubt lies inward and between them. Those who came with Diabolus to ruin the city of Soul-Human were natives of this country, the Land of Doubt. The Bloodthirsty Men are people who derive their name from the destructive tendencies of their nature and the fury within them to carry out massacres upon the city of Soul-Human. Their land lies under the star of the Dog, which exerts a murderous influence upon the land and governs its intellects. (In the light the murderer rises, he kills the poor and needy, and at night he is like a thief. They are the ones who rebel against the light; they have never known its ways, nor have they walked in its paths. – Job 24:13-14) The name of their country is the province of Hate-the-Good. Its remote parts are far from the land of Doubt, but both border each other on the Hill of Hell's Gate. These people are always allied with the Doubters, for they question the faith and loyalty of the men of the city of Soulhuman.
