According to the Civil Police of Minas Gerais (PCMG), she was recommended by a cousin of the victims to provide services to the elderly couple murdered in the São Pedro neighborhood, in the central-south region of Belo Horizonte. In his testimony, the relative stated that the suspect's behavior changed after a trip abroad, she began to miss work frequently, and she excessively used medication. The police also reported that Paola claimed to have psychiatric problems and said she used controlled medications to drug the victims before the crime. During the arrest, stolen items from the couple's house were recovered. The Civil Police affirm that the murder was premeditated and continues to investigate the case.
