The HT12E and HT12D are a pair of complementary integrated circuits designed for use in remote control systems. The HT12E is an encoder IC, which encodes a set of input signals into a serial signal for transmission. It takes up to 12 bits of parallel input data and converts them into a serial output. This serial output is then typically transmitted wirelessly via radio frequency (RF) or infrared (IR) signals. On the receiving end, the HT12D is a decoder IC that reverses the process. It receives the serial signal (after it has been demodulated from the RF or IR carrier) and converts it back into the original 12 bits of parallel data. These ICs are used in various applications, including wireless doorbells, car alarms, and other remote control systems where a certain number of digital signals need to be transmitted wirelessly from a sender to a receiver.
