Popular actor Hiroki Suzuki (33), who has appeared in the stage play "Touken Ranbu" and other productions, appeared at a preview screening and talk event for WOWOW's original drama "Mushigoro no Jōzen" held in Tokyo on February 9th. Suzuki, who played the strongest man, Kagoroku, in the drama, said of the role's order from director Keisuke Toyoshima to "play a wild child," "I thought I would do a plan that I thought was 'wrong.' If it didn't work, the director would stop me, so I would actively step on landmines. That was a repetition of that." Director Toyoshima reflected, "I see. He did stop some of the acting. It was an interesting set." Director Toyoshima, who asked Suzuki to play a role he had never played before and was pleased with how he let loose in the scene, praised Suzuki's "over-the-top acting," saying, "Suzuki came off like an idiot, and I think he's really come into his own. In episode 4, there's a scene where he flips over a huge table, and it was so unexpected that I was speechless." Co-star Sho Kiyohara (26) and WOWOW producer Saki Iiboshi also attended the event. The drama is an original story by author Ryogo Narita, known for the popular light novels "Baccano!" and "Durarara!!," and is the first in the "Mushikaga no Kagomae" project, which is planned to be expanded into a media mix. This suspense drama follows the team of the clumsy but powerful Kagoroku (Suzuki) and Nanami (Kiyohara), who uses her tongue to navigate the underworld, as they solve various cases. It will be broadcast on WOWOW Live every Friday at 10 p.m. starting March 22. There are eight episodes in total, with the first episode being broadcast for free.
