A powerhouse school that has consistently held the top spot in the nation has taken a new step. The Yanai Commercial High School girls' badminton club achieved an unprecedented 10 consecutive national championships in school competitions, from the 2021 selection tournament to last year's Inter-High School Championships held in their hometown of Yamaguchi. Furthermore, at last year's Inter-High School Championships, then-captain Shirakawa Nayu won the singles title, achieving the remarkable feat of winning the school competition, singles, and doubles triple crowns. The 14 third-year students who supported this feat attended their graduation ceremony, departing with memories and gratitude in their hearts. Their goal since enrolling was to win the Yamaguchi Inter-High School Championships. Despite being a generation without any experience of winning individual titles, they worked hard and, together with their teammates, seized the national championship. At the graduation ceremony, the former captain gave a cheer to their juniors, encouraging them to "turn the pressure of consecutive victories into strength." While each player has chosen their own path, whether to continue their studies or join a corporate team, their challenges continue. The team will be aiming for their 11th consecutive victory at the Kagawa Prefecture Select Tournament starting on the 25th of this month.
