Macduff’s Forgotten Railway: The Strange Story of Its Three Lost Stations | Lost Railway Towns 30

Welcome back to my ongoing Lost Railway Towns of the UK series. In today’s episode we’re in the historic Aberdeenshire coastal town of Macduff to uncover the strange and often overlooked story of its three lost railway stations. Despite being a busy fishing and shipbuilding community beside the harbour, Macduff was served by a series of stations built in surprisingly awkward locations high above the town. In this video, we explore why the railway ended up here, how the lines developed, and what remains of the platforms, trackbeds and goods facilities today. We follow the route of the former Banff, Macduff and Turriff lines, visit the site of Macduff’s final terminus, and track down the earlier stations that once connected the town before closure in the 1950s and 60s. Along the way, we look at the surviving railway architecture, the old goods shed, embankments and bridges, and the unique transport geography that shaped the network around the Macduff and Banff area. If you enjoy lost railways, British railway history, industrial heritage, disused stations, and exploring forgotten transport routes across Scotland and the UK, this episode is for you. Thanks for watching, and stay tuned for more from the Lost Railway Towns series. #lostrailways #macduff #railwayhistory #lostrailwaytowns ********* MERCH now available here - https://ko-fi.com/wobblyrunner/shop Become a channel member - https://www.youtube.com/wobblyrunner/...
