Trump arrived in the capital on the evening of May 13, 2026, and was officially welcomed by Chinese President Xi Jinping the following morning with a full honour guard ceremony at the Great Hall of the People. The leaders held formal talks before visiting the Temple of Heaven, a Ming‑era cultural site with more than 600 years of history, and then attended a lavish state banquet.
