How Far Do Your Irons Go? | Ideal Process to Know Your Yardages

Do you know how far your irons go? Ideally you will see an eight to fifteen yard gap between each iron, depending on your club speed. The gaps between each iron should be consistent and the faster your club speed the larger the gap, the slower the club speed the smaller the gap. If that gap begins to shrink with the longer golf clubs that means that you may want to consider other equipment options such as a hybrid instead of a long iron to maintain ball speed and height. In this video, PGA Professional Thomas Campbell goes through a gapping analysis of his irons and compares his yardages to how far his irons went in 2024. These results are exact and what yardages I will trust in 2025! I am using a Foresight GC Quad and the yardages are exact inside and outside! You can do this with a Trackman too! I highly recommend taking the time to get on a golf launch monitor and simulator to go through a similar process to this video and creating a yardage chart like I have. I hit ten shots with each iron which totaled 70 shots hitting shots with four iron, five iron, six iron, seven iron, eight iron, nine iron and pitching wedge.
