German Kids Are Different… And It Changed How I See Parenting

As an American living in Germany and working with children, I’ve noticed something that still surprises me. German kids seem to have a level of independence that many Americans would find shocking. They walk places on their own. They take responsibility earlier. And many parents seem far less fearful than what I grew up seeing in the United States. This isn’t about saying one country is better than the other. It’s about sharing what I’ve observed while living abroad and how it’s changed the way I think about childhood, parenting, freedom, safety, and trust. Have you noticed this too? Whether you’re a parent, teacher, expat, immigrant, or just curious about life in Germany, I’d love to hear your perspective. 👇 Let me know in the comments: Would you feel comfortable giving your child this much independence? #Germany #LivingInGermany #AmericanInGermany #Parenting #CultureShock Germany, German culture, American in Germany, living in Germany, Germany vs USA, parenting in Germany, German children, German schools, life in Germany, moving to Germany, expat life, culture differences, German parenting, raising kids in Germany, American expat, German society, Germany reaction, Germany explained, childcare Germany, working in Germany
