I'm going to climb Mt. Maya in the Rokko Mountains. I've climbed Mt. Maya several times, but this time I'm going to climb in Cascade Valley. Cascade means a series of small waterfalls, and Valley means a gorge or valley. As the name suggests, Cascade Valley has many waterfalls and it was a very beautiful hiking trail along the stream. However, it was very humid that day. The humidity turned the valley into a mist sauna. The relatively cool breeze along the stream was pleasant, but it was dangerous when there were many stairs. I climbed while sweating from the waterfalls, but that's summer hiking. I'll be careful not to get heatstroke as I climb. By the way, Cascade Valley is part of the Tokugawa Road. In addition, a valley called Somadani is called Cascade Valley. After doing some research, I found out that the Tokugawa Road was a detour built in the Edo period to prevent foreigners and samurai from running into each other on the road and starting a fight. I don't know who made the detour, but it seems like whoever made the detour had a really hard time. The road was rocky, with stairs and dangerous places where it was easy to slip. I think there were also people who were stubborn and decided to walk on the main road... This time, we climbed Cascade Valley, went to Lake Hodaka, and headed to Kikuseidai on Mount Maya via Agony Hill, which means agony. By the time we got to Kikuseidai, it was so hot we were exhausted. Anticipating (planning?) this, we took the Maya View Line to descend. The Rokko Mountains are deep, too. There are many different paths. Cascade Valley had river crossings and was a fun, wild hiking trail.
