The Most Scenic Trail in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve
Starting out at the North Eastern most corner of the McDowell Sonoran Preserve, Hawknest winds its way to the West through cactus filled hills. The first few miles are filled with distant views of the surrounding mountain including Four Peaks and Makeout Mountain. As the trail winds itself down through the wash it becomes full of life. Bright spring flowers and green shrubbery encroach on the trail. Small rock outcrops force the trail to slither and wind. Finally the trail ends at a sandy road, where your mind fades back into reality. The road offers a fast and exhilarating end to the ride.
