Escape to rural Cornwall; relaxing summer walk at St Clether nr Bodmin Moor
#stclether #bodminmoor #cornwall Take a walk along the Inny Valley (the course of the River Inny) in north Cornwall, just a stone's throw from Bodmin moor. From the tiny hamlet of St Clether, the walk is filled with the sights and sounds of a Cornish mid-summer day. The walk continues through beautiful lanes and woodland accompanied by amazing insects and other wildlife. This walk was filmed in June 2025. The sights and sounds of the natural world combined with peaceful music make this video ideal for meditation, relaxation and de-stressing. 00:00 Intro 01:02 St Clerderus church 02:35 The Inny Valley 05:59 Holy Well Chapel 09:00 River Inny part 1 12:08 A Cornish lane 16:10 River Inny part 2 18:59 Back to St Clether 21:32 Outro Watch my Walking In Cornwall playlist here: • Walking in Cornwall The walk started at St Clerderus Church in St Clether, and progressed along the Inny Valley to the Holy Well and Chapel. Following the course of the River Inny, this is a haven for insects and other invertebrates, and I attempted to capture on camera as many as possible. It was one of those walks where the birdsong could be heard but very few birds showed long enough to capture on camera. The exceptions being the Linnet and Buzzards. The stars of this video, in my opinion, are the damselflies and, in particular, the Beautiful Demoiselles. The males' metallic blue wings are other-worldly. Other than the Large Skippers and Meadow Brown, very few butterflies were seen. I had hoped to find a Marbled White, but sadly this was not to be. Having followed the River Inny for a couple of miles, the return to St Clether was mainly along beautiful Cornish lanes. In such a remote location, these are used mainly by farm-related traffic, so wildlife abounds here too. This was a difficult film to make due to the wind. As well as the footage that I intentionally recorded in slow-motion, many of the insect clips have had to be slowed in order to produce watchable, stabilised footage. Additionally, despite attenuating the audio during recording, the wind noise on the microphone caused considerable distortion, so has been processed in an attempt to filter the unwanted noise. Hopefully you will find the overall result pleasing. This walk was another wildlife treat, as is to expected in rural Cornwall during mid-summer! All background and natural sounds were recorded at the time of filming. Due to its cinematic nature, this video is best watched on a large 4K screen, such as a TV, to fully appreciate the visual detail and immersive aural experience I try to convey. I hope you enjoyed watching as much as I enjoyed walking and filming. If you did, please remember to click the thumbs up (like) button, and leave a comment.
