MKO Documentary | A Conversation with Ose Oyamendan & Véronique Bernard | African Voices Platform
In June 1993, Nigeria held its freest and fairest election. Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola won. The military annulled the result, imprisoned him without trial, and silenced the press. Five years later, Abiola died in custody during a meeting with senior American diplomats. The circumstances have never been fully resolved. MKO is the documentary that investigates this history. African Voices Platform sat down with Director Ose Oyamendan, a Nigerian-American journalist who was inside these events, and producer Véronique Bernard, to discuss the film, the investigation, and what remains at stake. MKO has its world premiere at Sheffield DocFest @sheffdocfest Screenings: Fri 12 June • The Light, Screen 6 • 20:45 Sun 14 June • Showroom, Screen 1 • 15:15 mkodocumentary.com | africanvoicesplatform.org #MKODocumentary #SheffieldDocFest #AfricanVoicesPlatform #Nigeria #June12 #Democracy #AfricanCinema #Documentary #BlackHistory #AfricanDiaspora Video assets featured credit of MKO Documntary
