Jenke behind bars: In Germany, around 71,000 people are in prison (as of 2016). For two weeks, Jenke von Wilmsdorff is one of them. To experience everyday life in prison, he moves to the Bremervörde Correctional Facility. During the day, he works in the courtyard guards, and like all inmates there, he spends his evenings in a cramped solitary cell. Here and in the common areas, he experiences the hardships of life behind bars. What are the supposed luxuries like in a cell? And how does the illegal trade in drugs, cell phones, and alcohol work in prison. Once free again, Jenke, with the help of the Saxon Ministry of Justice, accompanies an unannounced raid by a special task force on a correctional facility. For his further research on the subject of incarceration and prison, Jenke accompanies guards in a women's prison at work and gets to know a very different kind of penal system on a Norwegian island: Serious criminals live here seemingly under vacation conditions. The recidivism rate among them is said to be the lowest in Europe. Jenke also speaks with the victims of crime about pain, feelings of revenge, and the importance of a conviction.
