Cultural Parade Commemorating the 166th Arrival of Kim Sin YS POO SENG TAY TEE in Semarang, Year 2577/2026 The parade procession begins from the Tay Kak Sie Temple and heads to Marina Beach, Semarang. Tuesday, June 16, 2026 Starting with a disease outbreak in Semarang in 1853, or 166 years ago, the Chinese community in Semarang undertook various efforts to overcome it. One such effort was to seek the help of the God of Medicine, YS. POO SENG TAY TEE, symbolized by the arrival of Kimsin (a statue or image of the god) from China. At that time, transportation was limited to sea transportation by ship. The arrival of Kimsin is commemorated annually at Marina Beach, Semarang. This parade was often called "Sam Poo Kecil" (Little) to distinguish it from "Sam Poo" (Big). This may be because people used to know this type of parade/procession as "Sam Poo." This is a parade commemorating the arrival of Admiral Zheng He, also known as Sam Poo Kong. For the first time, at the 166th Coming of the Holy One (YS) Poo Seng Tay Tee celebration at the Tay Kak Sie Grand Temple in Semarang, the public witnessed not only a spiritual procession and cultural procession that has been passed down through generations, but also the arrival of an official delegation from Kongco Poo Seng Tay Tee's ancestral homeland. For the first time in the celebration's history, Kimsin Kongco Poo Seng Tay Tee was present from Zhangzhou Baijiao Ciji Ancestral Temple, Fujian, China, the origin of the Baosheng Dadi or Poo Seng Tay Tee cult. The presence of this delegation from their homeland serves as a powerful symbol of the historical, cultural, and spiritual connection between the Indonesian Chinese community and its traditional roots in Fujian.
