This tutorial starts a wider discussion on the art of instant composition more commonly referred to in music as improvisation. Fundamental concepts of music are discussed with the focus in this beginner tutorial being placed on improvising the rhythm of the notes played to instantly create a new melody. Some well known melodies are used as examples throughout the tutorial. Further tutorials will be posted to further help develop this very desirable skill for all saxophone players.
