How to get the most from Practicing Scales - Volume 1
In this tutorial the concept of musicality versus technical skill is discussed. The importance of being able to say the names of the scale notes out aloud prior to attempting to play it on your instrument is demonstrated, as are techniques in combination with a metronome to verify that you are improving in your technical ability to play scales. Using scale practice to play melodies is stressed with some examples provided to assist developing musicality. The scale of G major for the Eb alto saxophone is used throughout.
