With Canada, we have seen an unprecedented momentum in the deepening of bilateral relations,” said President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. as he departed from the Villamor Air Base in Pasay City for an Official Visit to Vancouver, Canada from July 1 to 4, 2026. Building on 77 years of diplomatic relations, President Marcos Jr. is set to hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Mark Joseph Carney to advance cooperation in trade and investment, defense and security, renewable energy, critical minerals and other emerging sectors. He will also meet with Canadian business leaders and investors to promote the Philippines as a competitive investment destination and engage with the Filipino community in British Columbia. “Mayroon pong humigit-kumulang na isang milyong Pilipino sa Canada ngayon…Patuloy silang nakikilahok sa pagpapaunlad ng ating ekonomiya at pagpapatatag ng ating demokrasya, sa kabila ng ilang taong pagkakawalay sa bayan,” the Chief Executive emphasized in his speech. He underscored Canada’s steadfast support for the country’s sovereignty and sovereign rights, particularly in the West Philippine Sea, and reaffirmed the importance of deeper collaboration to address regional and global challenges. “Malayo ang biyahe at ang oras ay laging kulang.
