Makam Kumpi Sera. Pilgrimage to the founder of silat/ulin Sera.

False stories about Eyang (Kumpi) Sera are still being spread by Sera and Serak silat practitioners in the United States and Europe. His grave in Jakarta is a well-known pilgrimage site, where information about his life can be found. These stories are very similar to what Maurice de Thouars and Dolf de Vries, Sera and Serak practitioners from the Netherlands, have told about his life. Many pilgrims still visit his tomb to pay respect or pray. Either because of him propagating and teaching islam, his silat and spiritual teachings, his help to the community as a healer, his struggle to fight against the dutch colonials or simply because of the positive impact he had on his community. He followed in the footsteps of many Wali's before him. Kumpi means grandfather, great-grandfather or Ancestor in the Betawi (Jakarta) language. There are many videos on youtube of pilgrims visiting his grave. I was fortunate enough to visit his grave during my recent trip to Indonesia.
