AirBike Ultralight vs Gusty Winds | 2-11-2026

I got the AirBike back in the air today after a few weeks grounded by poor weather. Conditions were fairly windy, but overall it handled the winds surprisingly well for how light it is. That said, I decided to cut the flight short as the winds were forecasted to increase. Takeoff and landing were mostly straightforward since the wind was lined up well with the runway. Final approach, however, was noticeably turbulent and kept things interesting. After sitting for a few weeks, I was happy to see the engine fire up normally. With the inverted engine setup, I always need to clean the spark plugs before flying if it’s been sitting for a while. Everything ran smoothly and performed as expected. Overall, a good but short flight — even if it was a bit breezy.
