THIS IS why I fly | Backyard strip to ridge top solitude

Redneck Airlines flight # 001: Ridge-top solitude… searching out unusual places to land at is fun. I fly my ultralight from my backyard airstrip out to the hills, park on a ridge, crack open a cold soda and relax in my lawn chair with wings. The best part? I get to go land back at the airfield I built. It’s humble, it’s redneck, but it’s home. I still can’t believe old man me pulled this off. Young kid me would lose his mind! What I’ve learned: Canyons/ridges in ultralights = no-wind days only. Mountain gusts and rotors in an ultralight can get scary real quick. Pick your days. This one was glass. Keep in mind this is for entertainment only and I’m just a guy flying out of my backyard, not a flight instructor. Get training and stay alive. 00:03 Hangar thoughts: “Here’s what I love about flying this thing” 00:05 Flying over a cliff 01:38 Ridge-top solitude break 03:10 Checking out a river bar 03:40 Canyon cruise 04:00 Valley and Road Run 05:05 I couldn’t resist 05:42 On final for the backyard 06:11 “And THATs why I love flying” + My border collie “Finny” greeting Aircraft: Quicksilver Sprint w/ Rotax 503 Location: Western Washington backcountry From: Wild Blue Ultralight | Backyard strip If you’ve got a “this is why I fly” moment, drop it below. #ultralight #part103 #backcountryflying #RedneckAirlines #Quicksilver #stol #pacificnorthwest #WildBlueUltralight
