In the plot, Hellboy, the demonic paranormal detective, faces a greedy spirit known as the Crooked Man, set in a gothic setting and exploring American folklore, with witches, spiders and zombies. Hellboy, created by Mignola in 1993, became a landmark in comics, recognized for his unique look and charisma, mixing mysticism, cosmic horror and humor. After the acclaimed adaptations directed by Guillermo del Toro in 2004 and 2008, which captured the fantastic and emotional tone of the work, and the 2019 reboot, which was heavily criticized, this fourth film promised to be faithful to the comics, being less superhero and more horror. But the road to hell is paved with good ideas. The film was a huge box office failure. In this video, I comment on the film and the comic "Hellboy and the Crooked Man", I talk about adaptation, character building, adoption and fan culture. And yes, I speak badly of fan films.
