100,000 Acres of Off-Road Recreation | Appalachian Outlaw Trails

In 2021, Eric Larch and Chris Inghram leased 100,000 acres in the eastern end of Kanawha County after watching their access get shut down piece by piece. Phase 1 of Appalachian Outlaw Trails opens May 23rd, 2026 — 25,000 acres, 300 miles of UTV trails, singletrack for dirt bikes, mountain biking, horseback riding, and camping that starts at 24 sites and scales to 150. One mile off I-64. The build is intended to be more than a trail system. It’s being positioned as an anchor for the upper Kanawha Valley, expected to drive lodging, restaurant, and retail investment in surrounding communities. The flagship access play: a partnership with Breeze Airways and Yeager Airport that lets visitors fly in, step outside, pick up a rental UTV, and ride to the trailhead with their luggage taken ahead. Advantage Valley has called it the first true experiential tourism in the state of West Virginia. Subscribe and share it with someone who loves this region as much as we do.
