$3.2 Million and a Rail Trail | Matt Ford | Adventure Meadow River

$3.2 million in congressionally directed spending is now moving toward the Meadow River Rail Trail — a 40-plus mile corridor connecting Rainelle to the New River Gorge National Park through some of the most dramatic canyon country in West Virginia. Matt Ford announced it publicly for the first time at the inaugural WV Outdoor Economy Summit. Ford is seventh-generation Greenbrier County, with family history tied to the same railroad corridor the trail would follow. The broader Adventure Meadow River vision layers rock climbing, whitewater, mountain biking, and hiking into a regional recreation ecosystem built around the trail. When he submitted the most recent grant application, he included 17 stakeholder letters. Nobody wants to be the only dollar in — and the project has been structured so they don’t have to be.
