The Ride I Didn’t Expect | Unaweep to Black Canyon

A last minute decision to take the long way to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, turned into one of the most beautiful and brutal days I’ve had on the bike this season. I started off heading west and then south through Grand Junction, before hitting highway 141 and dropping into the Unaweep–Tabeguache Canyon, one of the only canyons in the world with two outlets and water flowing in opposite directions. From there the road carried me past Gateway and into the quiet mining history of Naturita before climbing toward Norwood… where the wind absolutely unleashed on me. Crosswinds hammered the bike all the way across Wright’s Mesa until I finally dropped back down in elevation and things calmed again. After a quick lunch in Ridgway, I pushed on toward Montrose and then towards the second gem of the day... Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, before heading home. Y'all you're not going to want to miss this!!! This ride had everything: red rock walls, mining towns, brutal wind, wide‑open mesa, and one of the steepest canyons in North America waiting at the end. Route: Rifle → Grand Junction → Hwy 141 → Unaweep Canyon → Gateway → Naturita → Norwood → Ridgway → Montrose → Black Canyon of the Gunnison ____________________________________________ My cameras: https://bit.ly/Insta360X5_TWK & https://bit.ly/Insta360AcePro2_TWK My mic: https://a.co/d/jj5CfgL Our comms: https://bit.ly/TWK_CARDO 10% OFF my helmet hair protector: https://hightailhair.com/thewanderingkit 👉🏻 Patreon @The_Wandering_Kit   / the_wandering_kit   👉🏻 Instagram @The_Wandering_Kit https://tinyurl.com/2a5hby69 👉🏻 Facebook https://tinyurl.com/46697eus 👉🏻 TikTok https://tinyurl.com/3ak8h6z4 DISCLAIMER: Links listed in this description may include affiliate links.
