Latin New York - Alfredo de la Fé (2000) - Ampeg Baby Bass BB5

This is a fine example of how complicated latin compositions can get... full of "adornos", frivolous rythmical and harmonic decorations... sweet to have all this variation, but it's a real nightmare for musicians like me who play everything from memory instead of reading... :-). But finally nailed this sucker !! After some 40-50 takes still some minor mistakes, some notes that don't stand out as I would have liked... but don't think I'll ever do it better. Glad I got this one over with. The bass player on this recording is the Brasilian Eduardo "Dudú" Penz, a real rythmical monster (saw the band live around 2000, very impressive) . He plays the baby with very strong attack perpendicular to the strings, as you would play an electrical bass, this gives the distinctive "thud" that hopefully comes through in my recording as well.
