My Daily Bicycle Commute - Toronto - November 2013

This video shows my bike ride to work along Yonge Street from Eglinton Ave to Sheppard Ave. As you will notice, there are small patches of snow and ice on the streets and sidewalks. This was filmed on November 29th, 2013 and the morning temperature was -7°C. This is not the typical route that I take to get to work, but it's one of the various options that I have. The distance is about 6.25 km and it takes about 20 minutes to ride. I realize that this video is not suited for everyone, since it is so long. However, I'm hoping that there are people from around the world who bicycle in other countries who will be interested to watch. I have added in a digital speedometer and heart rate monitor, and included voice commentary to help keep the video interesting. Toronto is not a particularly bike friendly city, so finding a safe route can be difficult. In this video I used my new Contour Roam 2 camera to shoot the action footage. I recorded the audio with my Panasonic voice recorder. I tracked the speed and heart rate using my Garmin eTrex 30 GPS, and wrote a basic program in Turing to display the numbers on the screen. I hope you enjoy it, and maybe this will inspire you to try bicycling to work! Thanks for watching!
