"Destruyen su autoestima": Shabella Rouse y el impacto de los influencers gordófobos en jóvenes

Social media has become a showcase for criticism. Among the comments, it's increasingly easy to find fatphobic insults. There are even influencers who express their fatphobia by mocking overweight people. This is the case with Antonio Gutiérrez, a streamer who dedicates many of his videos to commenting on other people's bodies. On his profiles, we find content criticizing healthy eating, physical exercise, or even denying the existence of fatphobia. These profiles are not scientifically verified and have thousands of followers on social media, mostly young people. These comments can lead to mental health problems due to not "fitting" into stereotypical normative bodies. Although more and more people are aware of the hidden problem of fatphobia, it remains a dilemma that some influencers foster. To analyze this phenomenon, we spoke with Shabella Rouse, an artist involved in body positivity. Its mission is to combat latent fatphobia in society and showcase real bodies through social media.
