When you think rubbish engines of the 1990 season, there is only one candidate. Life Racing Engines with that awful W12. Ambitious, but rubbish. But there was one other engine that also did pretty badly. The Subaru 'boxer' engine that was in the Coloni cars. We still don't know if it was a proper boxer or not. It could have just been a flat 12, but either way it was the rally legend's attempt at getting in on the F1 action, and it didn't last the season. It barely lasted half the season.
