Pit of Hell - Serra da Estrela - Portugal HD
The Pit of Hell as the name suggests is a pit, or a small pond in the Serra da Estrela resulting from a waterfall about 10 meters high, formed by the waters of Leandres river. Situated in the heart of the Sierra at 1080 meters, the water is cold, and in the most severe winter weather, it even transforms into ice. The course of the Leandres river waters runs through the granite mantles, well characteristic of the region, and finds this natural barrier of rock, hardened by contact metamorphism, creating this cascade worthy of seeing.
