In the 1950s, France embarked on major infrastructure projects, notably the construction of large-scale dams such as Roselend, Serre Ponçon, and Tignes, to meet a rapidly growing demand for electricity. Thanks to exponential growth, the French acquired televisions, refrigerators, and all kinds of household appliances. The 1960s saw the construction of the first oil-fired power plant (Porcheville), and in 1963, the commissioning of the first nuclear power plant in France at Chinon.
