Jacobson's Progressive Muscle Relaxation devised originally by Edmund Jacobson utilises progressive muscle relaxation by first tensing and then releasing muscle groups accompanied by a focus on breathing deeply in between the tensing-release cycle. It helps by reducing sympathetic overactivity and can slow heart rate and reduce Blood Pressure. Later the duration can be shortened by tensing and releasing only 4-5 Muscle groups instead of all muscle individually. The Deep Breathing in between is crucial.
