Honestly, I thought it was going to be a quick viewing of the structure and a demonstration of how the lock gates open and close. From the very beginning, it was much more than that and it was fascinating. So fascinating, in fact, that I had an extreme look of concentration on my face the entire time which was revealed to me in footage from my secondary camera. (insert face palm here) I had no idea the importance of the locks and dams on the Arkansas River. I learned that one 15 barge tow can haul as much goods as 780 18-wheelers. I also learned that, without these dams, the Arkansas River would dry up in the summer months. I had no idea. I often have followers who tell me that "the Army Corps of Engineers messed up a good fishing spot" when they put the dams in. Did they? Because that fishing spot would have dried up without them. Those dams actually created fishing lakes. LAKES. Lakes so important that fishing tournaments are held on them. All of that to say... You're going to really like this video. Besides learning the purpose of the locks & dams and the mission of USACE in Arkansas and around the world, the Arthur V. Ormond Lock and Dam in Morrilton is just really cool. It's so interesting to see what it looks like up close, how the lock chamber works, get a bird's eye view from the top of the dam (it's a looonnnnggg way down) AND check for aliens under the river. Because...some people think they are hiding aliens down there... Let me know what you think about this video! Filming it for you was a privilege and I hope you enjoy it! __________________ Hi!
