L'Espinouse chapitre V : Caroux + vallée du Vialais

This 21 km hike follows the Vialais hike, which you can find on the Cévennes Hiking website, and includes a visit to the neighboring Caroux region. It passes twice through the charming hamlet of Douch, at an altitude of 900 m, as well as the Church of Sainte Marie de Douch. It is nestled in a green setting at the foot of the Caroux. This spot was the site, on September 10, 1943, of one of the first battles between the partisans of the Bir-Hakeim resistance and the occupying troops. Two steles commemorate this battle.
