What Jasper National Park Looks Like After the 2024 Fires

Jasper National Park has always been one of the most beautiful places in the Canadian Rockies, but after the 2024 wildfires we weren’t sure what to expect. In this episode, we explore Jasper’s unexpected beauty and discover that even after the fires, it’s still full of life, wildlife, and adventure. We arrive in downtown Jasper in late fall and we grab a site at Wapiti Campground (half-closed from fire damage). The next day we head out to explore. At sunrise, we walk around Pyramid Lake and Pyramid Island before hiking the scenic Pyramid Lake Loop. Later, we drive the stunning Maligne Road, one of the best wildlife-viewing drives in Canada. We stop at Medicine Lake and witness it as begins to drain for the winter, a natural phenomenon that has to be seen to be believed. Along the way, we spot moose, hike the Moose Lake Loop, and return to camp just in time to see a herd of elk wander by. We finish the trip with a visit to Jasper Brewing and the annual Dark Sky Festival, celebrating the incredible night skies of Jasper’s Dark Sky Preserve.
