A HIDDEN PART OF SUNDERLAND (DEPTFORD)
At lunchtime today I had a wander round one of my favourite parts of Sunderland. Thats Deptford close to the banks of the River Wear. There isn't much down there these days compared to the amount of industry that once was there. A couple of public houses remain. The people have gone, the communities of Deptford and Ayres Quay once existed here. They were once suburbs of Bishopwearmouth. It's not really hidden, well some parts are which are on the video. Forgotten yes, but still and important part of the history of Bishopwearmouth and then Sunderland. #sunderlandhistory #sunderland #deptford #riverwear #bishopwearmouth #ayresquay
