Your Heritage Home: Refinishing Old House Woodwork Workshop/Furniture

The City of Monroe Historic District Commission welcomed residents and history enthusiasts to an evening of learning and local history on Tuesday, November 18, during the “Refinishing Old House Woodwork and Furniture” workshop led by Scott Kish, HDC member and longtime craftsman with a passion for restoring historic materials. Attendees learned how to safely strip and refinish old house woodwork and antique furniture using techniques designed to highlight natural beauty while helping preserve pieces for years to come. The session included a practical list of recommended tools and supplies, along with easy step-by-step instructions that participants could apply to projects at home. Guests also had the opportunity to ask questions and share their own experiences working with historic materials during an extended question-and-answer session following the presentation.
