This one almost broke me. Whew! A worn and dated 12 drawer mahogany dresser needed ALL THE THINGS!

This mahogany dresser was not an easy project — but that’s exactly what made it worth saving. When I brought this piece home, it was scratched, worn, and dated. The finish had lost its depth, the base details felt heavy, and the overall look needed something more refined and current. Instead of walking away, I decided to take it on. For this transformation, I completely stripped the top down to bare wood and re-stained it in a rich dark walnut tone to bring back warmth and depth. The body was refinished in a modern, sophisticated color — and here’s the fun part — I let social media choose it. After narrowing down the options, I put it to a vote and followed the majority decision. This project also included: • Removing the dated wood detail along the front base for a cleaner silhouette • Updating the hardware for a more timeless, elevated look • Careful prep and sanding to ensure a durable, professional finish • Blending classic mahogany character with modern contrast The result is a piece that feels both timeless and updated — honoring the original craftsmanship while giving it a fresh identity.
