Hiking Picos De Europa (my first failed trip)

The Ruta Circular Picos De Europa was undoubtedly the most beautiful hike I've done. Ever. It was also the most difficult. I significantly underestimated the climbs. The sun. The amount of time it would take. That being said, I don't feel too terrible for the parts that I missed because the trail was becoming a bit repetitive at elevation. Tips for those thinking about doing this hike. Fly in to Santander and catch the bus to Fuente De. From Fuente De you can either hike up to the Picos De Europa or take the cable car up. I started on the north end of the picos and it was much harder to get to. I didn't realize there was a direct but from Santander to Fuente Dé. Bring sunscreen and a big hat. Book the Refugio's at least a couple weeks in advance on their website. The food at the Refugio's is amazing and I highly recommend booking that as well if you can. Plan responsibly for how many miles you can hike and really take into account the elevation. Hike with a partner unless you're very experienced.
