Ukraine Just Pulled Off the Unthinkable in the Sea of Azov

Support the channel for only $5: https://ryanmcbeth.substack.com Ukraine may have just carried out one of the most destructive attacks on shipping in modern history. In a single operation, Ukrainian drones reportedly struck 27 or 28 Russian vessels in the Sea of Azov—including 21 oil tankers. “Struck” does not necessarily mean “sunk,” but if most of these vessels were destroyed or disabled, the historical comparison is extraordinary. The Japanese lost 26 warships at Leyte Gulf; to find a battle in which one side lost more than 28 vessels, we may have to go back to the Battle of Navarino in 1827. In this video, I examine the strike footage, use NASA FIRMS satellite data to confirm fires at sea, and explain what this operation may reveal about Russian air defenses, maritime escorts, early warning coverage, and Ukraine’s growing ability to interdict shipping in the Black Sea. A country without a conventional navy may have just delivered one of the largest single-night blows against a fleet since the age of sail.
