My Thoughts — Sony Ending Physical Discs in 2028
In this video, I’m sharing my honest thoughts on this massive transition. Are we losing true ownership of our games, or is this just a natural, convenient step forward in the digital age? Sony officially announced that production of physical game discs for new PlayStation releases will end in January 2028. While physical copies of games released prior to 2028 will still be available, all new titles will be sold digitally through the PlayStation Store or at retail stores as digital codes. In a recent PlayStation.Blog update, Sony cited shifting consumer preferences and the booming digital market as the reasons for going entirely digital. While games released before this 2028 cutoff are safe and physical copies will still exist for older titles, the future of PlayStation is undeniably digital.
