Why are Turkey and Azerbaijan brothers? Why is the phrase "One Nation, Two States" so powerful? We try to understand this in this video. In this video, I'm not just touring Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. I'm also trying to understand why the much-talked-about brotherhood between Turkey and Azerbaijan is felt so strongly. We also learn why the word "Azeri," which we habitually use, is actually incorrect and what it means. The Azerbaijani people define themselves not as Azeri, but as Azerbaijani or Azerbaijani Turk. So why this difference? In this video, from the Martyrs' Alley to the Old City streets, from Baku Boulevard to the modern face of the city, we will sometimes go back to the past, sometimes be moved, and sometimes feel closer to Turkey than ever before in the midst of daily life. Because some bonds are not truly born from speaking the same language… from experiencing the same pain.
