【4】/ Wicked Medley Composed by Stephen Schwartz Performed by Handbells ensemble Defying Gravity と For Good はミュージカル『Wicked』という作品から生まれた楽曲です。『オズの魔法使い』の物語を新しい視点から描いたこの作品では、人々の出会いや友情、そしてそれぞれが自分の道を選んでいく姿が描かれています。 Defying Gravity は、自分の信じる道へと踏み出そうとする強い決意を表した楽曲です。高く広がっていく旋律と力強いリズムが印象的で、空へ舞い上がるような解放感 と高揚感に満ちています。 一方For Goodは、共に過ごしてきた時間を振り返りながら、互いの存在によってより良い自分になれたことを認め合うような歌詞になっています。穏やかな旋律が重なり合い、相手への感謝や、人との出会いが人生に残す大切な意味を感じさせます。 対照的な雰囲気を持つ二つの曲ですが、ハンドベルの躍動感や柔らかい響きとともに、その世界観を感じていただけましたら幸いです。 “Defying Gravity” and “For Good” are songs from the musical Wicked. This musical tells the story of The Wizard of Oz from a new perspective, depicting the encounters between people, their friendships, and how each individual chooses their own path. “Defying Gravity” expresses a strong determination to step forward on the path one believes in. The melody rises high and the rhythm is strong. It gives a feeling of freedom and excitement, like flying up into the sky. On the other hand, “For Good” looks back on the time they spent together. The lyrics show that they recognize they have become better people because of each other.
