[4K] 🇲🇽 Mexico City Regional Rail | Tren El Insurgente

The Mexico City Tren Interurbano is the first electric intercity train to ever open in Mexico. The line opened in September 2023 between Zinacantepec and Lerma in the city of Toluca. The connection to Mexico City wont open until mid 2024, but when it does, the line will be a very fast and useful connection as the current highway between the 2 cities is highly saturated. It will connect to the capital at Observatorio station which is the western terminus of line 1 and soon also line 12 which will make the station an important hub for riders. Trains on the line are derived from the Civia trains used on Spanish Cercanias systems and are very modern. The livery is a nice combination of red, green, and white matching with the colors of the Mexican flag. Fares are currently $15 MXN across the whole line and can be paid for using the city's Movilidad Integrada transit card. The line is fast and will become incredibly useful and efficient once the connection to Observatorio opens. I fully reccomend anyone going to Toluca to use it as it will be a much faster and cheaper way to get between the 2 cities.
