Reserve static lines have been around for a long time. But to increase safety for tandem pilots and their passengers, Bill Booth has been researching a way to use the main parachute to extract the reserve parachute. It was no small feat to move this simple idea to a solution that works but does not interfere with the pilot chute in a total malfunction or deploys prematurely when only one riser releases. And these are only a few of the contingencies for which the rigging team at UPT had to find a solution.
