How it would be Freddie Mercury presenting Bohemian Rhapsody for the first time to the Queen members
NOTE! This version is AN EDITION I DID IMAGINING HOW IT WOULD BE Freddie presenting Bo Rhap for the first time to his Queen fellows. IT IS NOT A REAL SITUATION, although the vocals and piano are ALL ORIGINAL FREDDIE recordings in the studio! It is known that, even though Bohemian Rhapsody was recorded in 1975, included in the Queen album A Night at the Opera, Freddie already used to play bits of the song since the end of the 1960’s. As Freddie himself said: “Bohemian Rhapsody was something that I’d wanted to do for a long while, actually. It wasn’t something I’d given much thought to on previous albums, but I just felt that when it came to the fourth album, I was going to do it. It was really three songs and I just put them together.” According to Roy Thomas Baker, producer of the song and the album, Freddie was in his apartment and told he had an idea for a song and started to play its basic structure on the piano, with parts of the lyrics still missing. Then suddenly, Freddie stopped playing and said: “Now, dears, this is where the opera section comes in” :D And, during the recording sessions, Roy tells that Freddie would come with more and more lyrics, adding Gailileos and increasing the opera section. But, now imagine for instance, that, instead of constructing the song during the recording section, Freddie already had the whole song and lyrics ready and decided to show it to the other members of Queen for the first time. More than that, imagine that you are a privileged person that is there, right at this moment, with Brian, Roger and John by your side, by the piano, anxious and curious to hear for the first time the new song composed by Freddie. This is what I intend to give you now… Please notice that I have used parts of Freddie’s vocals that are not in the final version of the song, including some bits out of tune. I did that in purpose, not to depreciate, but to create this imaginary scene, with Freddie anxious to show his composition for the first time, nervous to know what his Queen fellows will think of it, and knowing he had to play it at once, from the beginning to the end, whatever happened. So, clear your minds, imagine you are hearing the song for the first time, presented by Freddie himself, right in front of you, playing piano and singing… Enjoy it!
